Since I need to rebuild my own hdraulic floor jack because the release valve is leaking, I have found this to help a lot with all the detail that was put into this.

Now you can rebuild your own jack instead of buying a new one!

Enjoy

DETROIT – AutoWeek has selected the CTS-V Coupe as its 2011 Best of the Best Car, placing the Cadillac at the top of the class of new or significantly redesigned cars for the 2011 model year.

AutoWeek editors graded new vehicles on drivetrain, ride quality, handling, exterior and interior design and fun factor. The CTS-V Coupe received the most points overall in the car category.

The award was announced today on the AutoWeek website and will appear in the January 10 issue of the magazine.

AutoWeek editors noted the CTS-V Coupe’s dramatic design and also praised the Cadillac for providing both power and refinement. One editor called it the “best Cadillac ever.”

“The car is stiff and set up to handle well, but Cadillac has found an intriguing mix of performance and ride quality that places this creation in a category of its own,” another editor wrote. “It’s quite something to behold.”

GM hiring to push electric effort beyond Volt

(Reuters) - General Motors Co said on Tuesday it would hire 1,000 engineers and researchers in Michigan over the next two years to develop more electric cars and hybrids as it launched its battery-powered Chevrolet Volt.

"Volt clearly demonstrates that we are well on our way and it is especially true when it comes to the electrification of the automobile," GM Chief Executive Dan Akerson said at a ceremony marking the imminent shipping of the plug-in hybrid.

The Volt, which tops the Toyota Prius for fuel economy, is a first-of-its-kind vehicle that GM has touted as a symbol of its commitment to pushing for gains in fuel efficiency and developing new technology.

Akerson drove on stage in the first commercially made Volt for the event at the assembly plant that builds the car, three years after GM announced the closely watched project.

Cadillac readying flagship above XTS

Details
Hits: 5212

Cadillac’s XTS Platinum concept car introduced earlier this year at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit might have looked and felt like a flagship model, but the crest-and-wreath brand apparently has another card up its sleeve.

General Motors CEO Ed Whitacre Jr. has reportedly green-lighted a larger and pricier Cadillac flagship – one that could compete more seriously against the likes of Mercedes-Benz’s S-Class.

To compete in that segment, Cadillac knows it would have to offer rear and all-wheel-drive. The XTS, set to debut for the 2012 model year, shares the Epsilon II platform with the Buick LaCrosse. It’s unclear just what GM would do for a range-topping rear-drive sedan platform since it doesn’t currently have anything suitable in its portfolio beyond the Sigma platform that underpins the CTS (Sigma II) and the lame-duck STS (first-generation Sigma).
