Like fine wine and sharp cheese, the older a car gets the more we appreciate them. Maybe it’s because of the memories they bring back – saving all your pennies from your first job to get your first car, cruising on those hot summer nights when school’s out or simply because they don’t build them like they used too. No matter what the reason for your obsession with vintage vehicles, they are something to behold.
In celebration of what was, the Witchurch-Stoffville Museum hosts its 37th annual antique and classic car show this Sunday August 8, 2010 |

Canada: Production ends at GM's Windsor plant
General Motors' plant in Windsor, Ontario, produced its last transmission on 28 July. The closure of this plant, GM's last in Windsor, ends 90 years of production in Windsor for GM.
This plant produced transmissions for the Pontiac G5 and the Chevrolet Cobalt. The closure of the facility translates into 500 workers losing their jobs.
"After today, there will be no more GM in Windsor and that is an unfortunate situation. But it is the reality of the auto industry in North America, so we have got to really just go on with our lives," The Associated Press quotes the plant's senior human resources administrator, Dan Garneau as saying.
At one point, GM employed more than 7,000 people in Windsor, and was one of the biggest employers. In May 2008, however, the OEM laid off 1,400 workers in Windsor, and announced its decision to close the plant.
Although GM has exited Windsor, it still has other facilities in Canada. These are located in Oshawa, Ingersoll and St. Catharines, Ontario. |
