You really can't bash the Northstar to much because it really is a good engine. And it is just like any other engine that if you don't do the maintnance such as putting in fresh coolant the engine is not going to hold up such as the headgaskets. I wonder though if using synthetic oil from day one in a Northstar would prevent the half case from leaking ?
